Due to the cold water, there hasn’t been much for shallow water panfish reports, but start looking for them to move into more shallow water when the temperatures rise. On Clearwater Lake, Sugar Lake, and Lake Sylvia, anglers have been finding crappies in 10-15 ft. of water.

Despite the nice weather last weekend, most of the bays, channels, boat harbors, and other spring crappie spots still aren’t holding big bunches of panfish. Until water temperatures improve several more degrees, anglers can look for crappies suspended just outside of those areas.

Wind the recent strong winds, any ice that remained on the lakes went out early this week. As the temperatures start warming, the traditional spring spots should start holding panfish. Check those bays, harbors, and shorelines for crappies.
