Fauci stepping down in December

White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci plans to step down in December according to various news outlets including CNBC. There are mixed opinions on how Fauci handled the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, some controversy led Fauci’s name to be in the headlines nationwide. Fauci approved cruel and harsh experiments on Beagle puppies in 2021, also known as #BeagleGate. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (Fauci is the NIH Director) drugged beagle puppies, removed their vocal cords, and locked their heads in cages filled with infectious sandflies.

According to PETA these experiments were executed even though new drugs are not required to be tested on dogs per the Food and Drug Administration. Animal testing is also no longer required for cosmetic products.

I personally would love to see someone in his position who understands and believes in modern science. Animal testing has been proven unnecessary by countless studies due to advances in technology.

Many Americans were also disappointed in Fauci’s inconsistency during the pandemic. He often contradicted statements and guidelines he announced regarding COVID-19, which led to confusion about how the virus spreads and how to fight against it.

Although Fauci is stepping down from his government position, he has clarified he is not retiring. The public has shared their thoughts on social media, with some sharing their thanks, and others sharing their disgust. Many Twitter users used the words destructive, dishonest, cruel and liar to describe him.
