Layna Liebhard, 70

Layna E. Liebhard, age 70, of Maple Lake, died Tuesday, June 22, 2022, at the Buffalo Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. Kevin Magner as Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation was held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The visitation was continued on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Layna Emmalee Sullivan was born September 12, 1951, in International Falls, Minnesota, to Donald and Helen (Oien) Sullivan. Layna grew up in International Falls, where she graduated high school. On January 19, 1974, she was united in marriage to Gene H. Liebhard in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis for a short time before moving to Belle Plaine. They then built a home in Buffalo in 1979. They co-owned and operated Summit Precision in Buffalo, until Gene’s death in 2007, when Layna also retired. Layna continued to make her home in Buffalo until 2017 when she built a home in Maple Lake to be closer to her children. Layna had a knack for interior decorating. It was not unusual for jewelry that sparkled and had bling to catch her eye. Layna enjoyed gardening, and she had a soft spot in her heart for dogs. She cherished family time, and always made family birthdays and holidays worth celebrating.

Layna is survived by her children, Jerry (Kindra) Liebhard, of Annandale, and Sheri (Cody) Jarman, of Maple Lake; six adoring grandchildren, Anna, Jake, and Reece Liebhard, and Kiera, Blake, and Isaak Jarman; siblings, Patricia Larson, Gary (Barb) Sullivan, Wayne “Wink” (Jeanie) Sullivan, and Rick (Laurie) Sullivan, all of International Falls; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen; husband, Gene; and brothers-in-law, Bob Larson and Jack Seaver.

The casket bearers were Blake and Isaak Jarman, Jake Liebhard, and Wayne, Gary, and Rick Sullivan. Anne Pribyl and Krista Elsenpeter provided music for the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
