Louise Brossard, 70

Louise Marie (Kiscaden) Brossard “Weezy,” age 70, of Delano, passed away on January 18, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born April 12, 1951, to George and Bette (Eliason) Wilson in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and graduated from St. Paul Murray High School in 1969.

Louise met and married Stephen Kiscaden and into this union two beautiful children were blessed, Michelle and Robert. Louise loved to travel and see the world. She was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Socializing with friends, playing cards or just talking were things to look forward to. These passions took a step back in importance with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Time spent with family and friends was the priority.

Louise devoted her life to the Delano American Legion and extended Legion family. She served in a variety of ways for over 40+ years. To Louise, the serving of those that served was the priority. She was never looking for awards or recognition. In Louise’s immediate family, there are seven different combat tours represented. The sacrifice that is demanded of our armed forces is something that Louise understood and took very seriously. Besides serving the Delano American Legion, Louise worked for the City of Delano where she had a career of 21 years.

After years of being friends, she and Mike Brossard decided to take their friendship to the next level by becoming husband and wife. They look out for each other, travel and love being part of their new expanded family.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bette Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Dick Wallis.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Michelle (Dave) Krenik, Robert Kiscaden and friend Nicolle Marx; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step-children, Shon Brossard, Amanda (Dave) Stoffer, Lori (Dale) Skogman, Holly (Jeff) Poliwoda; sisters, Jeanne Wallis, Sharon (Ed) Anderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Delano Senior Center at 11 a.m. As per Louise’s request, “the service will be first with the gathering following, because I’m weird.”  Gathering of family and friends will begin at the closure of the service and will continue until we move across town to the Delano American Legion where a social get-together will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. They will be making donations to the Delano Fire Department and Senior Center in Louise’s memory.

Arrangements by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota.

Mitch was a unique individual. He was caring, bright, and authentic. From an early age, he was considered wise beyond his years. He had a very determined and driven personality and did things “his way.” He was a sarcastic jokester and loved his family and friends. His giving personality led him into a career serving vulnerable and disabled adults with whom he had a special relationship. He always rooted for the underdog. He loved reading about history and became a self-taught photographer. He was a proud gun owner and enjoyed going to the shooting range. He used his photography skills on his many world travels, especially to Iceland, where he had been several times.
