Rita Bloom, 69
Rita Bloom passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct 24, 2024. She was born Oct 19, 1955, in Watertown, MN.
Memorial service will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Buffalo, MN.
A Celebration of Life will follow at Mark and Dianne’s house: 6012 Iris Lane, Rockford, MN.
Rita is preceded in death by her father, Frank Czanstkowski; mother, Ellen Weeks; sister, Linda Czanstkowski; aunt, Kathy O’Neal; nephews, Rory Gavic and Raul Cervantes; husband, Richard Bloom.
Survived by daughters, Shawnna (Matt) Doubek and Dori (Pete) Sands; grandkids, Avery and Lou; sisters, Debbie (Dave) Larson, Dianne (Mark) Solberg; brothers, Frank (Deb), Mike (Melody), Bob (Kathy) and Ryan (Sarah) Czanstkowski; family friend, Rick Weeks; along with many nieces and nephews.
Rita worked as an RN for many years.
Rita was the family social butterfly. Whether you were born into the family, or she made you part of it, she welcomed you with open arms. She made you smile, laugh, and feel loved. She will be greatly missed.

Jerome Gagnon, 66
Jerome “Jerry” P. Gagnon, age 66, of Buffalo, formerly of Norwood Young America, husband of Colleen, passed away on October 23, 2024.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hamburg, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation two hours prior to service at church.

Dorothy Gavett, 101
Dorothy Bauer Gavett, age 101, of Osseo, MN, died on October 24, 2024.
She was born on July 9, 1923, in Delano, MN, to Leonard W. and Adeline (Matter) Bauer, the third of their four children.
Dorothy was married to John Sleypen from which union Thomas John was born. She later married James Gavett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don and Dale; sister, Phyllis; and grandson, Brandon.
She is survived by son, Tom and wife, Sandy; granddaughter, Kelli, and friend, Tom; great-granddaughter, Brandi; and great-grandsons, Zachary and Ryan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dorothy was athletic and musically talented. She loved to play on her organ by ear and sang many years with the Plymouth Rockers. Dorothy was a classy lady and loved clothes and makeup until the very end. She was a member of the Oak Knoll Lutheran Church in Minnetonka and a longtime resident of Westridge Retirement Community.
A Celebration of Life for Dorothy Bauer Gavett was held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Westridge Retirement Community Center, 11201 Fairfield Road West in Minnetonka, MN.

Joann Gehrke, 64
Joann “Jo” Gehrke, age 64, of Monticello, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Monticello, MN, on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Born November 16, 1959, to parents Maynard and Sylvia (Grahn) Kallevig in Willmar, MN. Jo later married Richard “Rick” Gehrke, of Spicer, MN, on September 27, 1980. They later moved to Monticello, and Jo worked as a homemaker, various convenience stores, and as an assistant manager at Super America in Brooklyn Park. Later, Jo became a cook at the Maple Lake Café and her last position was serving as a cook for the Catholic Charities. She left her last position as a cook to again become a homemaker and spend more time with her grandchildren.
Jo is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Richard (Bucky) and Judy. She is survived by her loving husband, Rick; son Shawn; brother, Ron (Cork) and Bev Kallevig of Willmar; grandchildren Mason, Hunter, Kayla, Evan, and Brooke; and great-grandchildren Matthew, Evelyn, and Bentley; and many nieces and nephews.

Ronda O’Brien, 67
Ronda Renee O’Brien, age 67, of Monticello, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at her home.
Memorial Services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale, Rev. Alex Becker officiated. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m.
Ronda Renee Hoffman was born March 24, 1957, to Ronald and June (Kelly) Hoffman in Buffalo, Minnesota. Ronda grew up in Annandale, along with her three sisters. Ronda was a 1975 graduate of Annandale High School. For many years, Ronda worked in the marketing industry, as both a receptionist and in the accounting department. Ronda lived in Buffalo, prior to moving to Monticello 18 years ago.
Ronda was a compassionate and jubilant soul, who had a strong love for her family, rock and roll music, and bird watching. Her warmth, kindness, and remarkable ability to connect with others left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. With a heart as vast as the sky, Ronda embraced life’s simplicities and found solace in the beauty of the world around her.
She is survived by her son, Cody Bechtold, of Monticello; mother, June Hoffman, of Annandale; sisters, Becky (Don) Richardson, of Annandale, and Jennifer Hoffman, of Maple Lake; and nieces, nephews, and other family members and dear friends.
Ronda was preceded in death by her father, Ronald; and sister, Julianne Pelarski.

Mary Jo Schmid, 63
Mary Jo (Daleiden) Schmid, age 63, of Corcoran, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, after a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on September 19, 1961, in Monticello, Mary Jo was the daughter of Clifford and Claudell Daleiden. She was baptized on October 1, 1961, and later confirmed in the Christian faith. Mary Jo graduated from Buffalo High School and later pursued her passion for Early Childhood Education at Hennepin Technical College.
On February 4, 1984, Mary Jo married Ron Schmid at Salem Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with three beloved children: Laura, Nathan, and Megan. Mary Jo was active in her children’s education, serving as secretary and treasurer on the PTC board and volunteering for numerous events, including teaching Sunday school.
Mary Jo was grateful to spend several years at home raising her children. She then dedicated 21 years of her career as an executive director in child development, where she formed lifelong relationships with parents, teachers, and children alike. In her retirement, she took pride in serving as the church janitor for Salem.
Mary Jo cherished her time camping with family and friends, playing cards with her card club, and engaging in sports—she played softball on her hometown team and co-ed volleyball with Ron. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, canning, hosting lively gatherings, and traveling with loved ones. Most importantly, she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, who were her greatest blessings.
Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Ron; her daughter, Laura (Jonah) Berndt, of Buffalo; her son, Nathan (Kelly) Schmid, of Buffalo; her daughter, Megan (Josh) Pauly, of Brooklyn Park; and her six wonderful grandchildren: Jacob, Levi, and William Berndt, Josie and Hailey Schmid, and LaRae Pauly. She is also survived by her sisters, Jill Daleiden and Patty Pouliot; her brother, Jeffrey (Kerin) Daleiden; her stepbrother, Duane Bechtold; her sister-in-law, Mary Lee Bechtold; her brother-in-law, Richard (Darlene) Schmid; her sister-in-law, Nancy (Tom) Lieder; uncles, Meiny (Mona) Daleiden and William “Billy” Daleiden; aunts, Pat and Dorothy Daleiden; and many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford (2017) and Claudell (1964); her stepmother, Marcella (2021); her stepbrothers, Craig Bechtold and Joel Bechtold; and her grandparents, Otto and Magdalen Daleiden and Meinrad and Kate Daleiden.
Mary Jo was a truly loving and kind soul, whose joyful spirit touched the lives of everyone around her. She lived selflessly, always putting the needs of others before her own and finding joy in the simple moments of life. Her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on her family and friends, and her unwavering support and encouragement will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services for Mary Jo (Daleiden) Schmid will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Pastor Paul Schuler will officiate.
Cindy Steinke will be the organist for the funeral service.
Interment will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Greenfield.
A visitation was held on Wednesday, October 30, from 4-8 P.M. AT THE CHURCH. Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning one hour prior to services.
Casket Bearers will be Deb Weinand, Cindy Kottke, Liz Ratke, Teresa Vollbrecht, Kay Berning, Sheila Hlavka, and Wendy Etzel.

Charlotte Wille, 62
Charlotte Ann Wille (Good), of Greenfield, MN, went to the Lord our Savior on October 27, 2024, at the young age of 62. Memorial service is pending at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN. (Full notice to appear next week).

Alise Zachman, age 69, of Ozark, MO, passed away Thursday, October 17, at her home. Alise was born on April 3, 1955, in Buffalo MN, the daughter of the late Jerome and Fern Ordorff. She was baptized and confirmed Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1973.
Alise married Marvin Zachman on February 1, 1996. She worked at Buffalo Hospital for many years and various other part-time jobs; Hallmark was her favorite fun job.
Alise was blessed to travel with Marvin to 25 countries and all 50 states. She loved to torture her grandkids with hugs and kisses. She and Marvin would love to take off on weekends to go exploring.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Jerome and Fern Ordorff; and in-laws, John and Florence Zachman.
She is survived by children, Christy (Matt) Handt, of Waverly, Shannon Valley (Eric Larson), of Rockford; stepchildren, James and Valerie, of Champlin; and 12 grandchildren; siblings, Pam (Mike) Mensinger, Cheryl (Jeff) Kienholz, Mark ( Deb) Ordorff, and Darcy (Tom) Sherwin; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in- law.
