Kenneth Bobrowske, 84

Kenneth John Bobrowske was born April 1, 1939, to John and Anna (Uecker) Bobrowske at their home in Albion Township. He was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Kenneth spent his first eight grades in the one-room school at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and school and was confirmed after 8th grade. 

Kenneth enjoyed his early years on the farm. He graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1956, and then went on to college at Concordia Lutheran College in Seward Nebraska, graduating in 1960. 

After college, he taught the 6th grade for many years in the parochial school system. He left teaching and went to work 3M in Hutchinson, MN, for several years. He transitioned away from 3M to working in a tool room at Entegris in Chaska, MN.

When he retired, Kenneth enjoyed taking vacation trips with his family throughout Minnesota and many other states. Kenneth was a sports enthusiast, especially all Minnesota teams.  He also enjoyed the fellowship of his friends in Howard Lake and Cokato.  

Kenneth was survived by a former spouse, five children, multiple grandchildren, and two nephews. 

He was preceded in death in by his parents, John and Anna; and his sister, Ardis.  Kenneth went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2023, at the age of 84.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, MN 320-543-3401, www.swansonpeterson.com.

 


Thelma Korthals, 90

Thelma T. Korthals, age 90, of Buffalo, Minnesota, passed away comfortably, with the presence of God surrounding her on September 19, 2023. 

Originally from Concord, NH, she met Edward Korthals, of George, IA, while going to Hope College in Holland, MI. They were married on August 26, 1953. She assisted Edward in the ministry over the next 40 years serving the congregations as the quintessential pastor’s wife. After retiring from the ministry, they moved to Buffalo, MN, and she started a second career working at the Walmart in Buffalo. 

Her faith and her family were the most important things to her. She enjoyed going out for coffee with friends and picked up a joy for fishing after moving to Buffalo.

Thelma will be greatly missed by her husband of 70 years, Edward Korthals, Buffalo, MN, and her remaining three children, Edward Korthals, Jr., Neenah, WI, Lori Burns, Delano, MN, and Cherie Moen, Des Moines, IA; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Leslie H. Korthals; and grand-daughter, Jennifer R. Burns. 

Memorial service to be held, Saturday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Buffalo Evangelical Covenant Church in Buffalo, MN.

Officiating will be Pastor Reid Gilbert.

Lunch will be served after the funeral service. 

Interment to be held later this fall at the East Side Cemetery, Steen, MN. She will be laid to rest next to her son, Leslie Korthals.

Kathleen Krause, 80

Kathleen Ann Krause, age 80, of Robbinsdale, MN, passed away on September 16, 2023, from multiple myeloma cancer. 

Preceded in death by parents, Mary and Donald Neuman; and sister, Camille Lutes.

Kathy was born on March 10, 1943, and grew up in NE Minneapolis, graduating from Edison High School in 1961. Kathy married Gary Krause in 1967 and had three children, Joan Stewart, Brenda (Tim) Dahl, and son, Chandler. Kathy’s greatest joy was her family; we all benefited from the love she showed us. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was known for her kindness and generosity to her family and friends, a prayer warrior, and a devoted Bison fan.  She attended countless football and basketball games of her grandson’s, Zach, Tony and Nate and loved every minute of it.  She especially loved making friends in the Buffalo community over the years. She was known as “Grandma Kathy,” not only to her own grandchildren but to many in the community.

Survived by husband; children; grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew) Sension, Kelsey (Brett) Olson, Mariah Stewart (Charles Black), Zach Dahl (Lily), Tony Dahl, and Nate Dahl; great grandsons, Killian and Gideon Olson; brother, Larry Neuman (Bob Rosenberg); and sister, Yvonne (Pete) Adams.

William Pollock, 82

William Louis Pollock, age 82, of Montrose passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on May 16, 1941, in Waverly, the son of Louis and Catherine (Horsch) Pollock.

Bill graduated from Watertown-Mayer High School and later attended for two years an Agricultural Vocational School.

On December 1, 1962, William L. Pollock and Carol V. Veches were joined in holy marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with seven children.

He engaged in dairy farming in Woodland Township, Wright County for many years. Bill also formerly worked at Van Dale and Marksman Metal. He also delivered The Star Tribune newspaper for forty years.

Bill belonged to the Knights of Columbus as a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus since 1978 and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus since 1987. Bill was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.

He was a very social person! Bill also enjoyed cutting wood, mowing his lawn, and helping out his neighbors.

Survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Carol V. Pollock; children, Bill (Trisha) Pollock Jr., Renee Halverson, Scott Pollock, Kevin Pollock, Melanie (Shawn) Marden and Jennifer (Kentral) Galloway; grandchildren, Josh, Tiffany, Samantha, Alex, Maya, Savannah, Kentral Jr., Logan, Connor, Emma, and Samantha Hackbarth; great-grandchildren, Brady, Karter, Riley, Miles, and Austen; siblings, Eddie (Linda) Pollock, Carolyn (Denny) Nieman, Helen (Rick) Rummelhart; a brother-in-law, Al Moy; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by a son, John, his parents and sisters, Lois Pollock and Margie Moy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for William Pollock will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. Father Kenneth O’Hotto will be the Celebrant.

Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, September 27, from 4-8 P.M. AT THE CHURCH. Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning, September 28, at the church from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.

Casket Bearers will be 3rd Degree Knights.

James Schleif, 93

James LeRoy Schleif (Jim) left this world Sunday morning, September 24, 2023.  Attended by family, he died peacefully in his sleep at home as he had always wanted.

Jim was born Sunday, May 4, 1930, to Edward Rudolph and Anna Rosmina. The youngest of 12 children, he was baptized August 24, 1930, confirmed April 2, 1944, and graduated in 1948 from Buffalo High School. He was a faithful member of St John’s Lutheran Church for 81 years.

Jim married Patty Henson on July 3, 1952. The Schleif family resided in Rockford, Silver Creek, St. Michael, and Buffalo. He and Patty spent 23 winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, with many friends from Buffalo. He enjoyed golfing trapshooting, hunting, and fishing. He loved being surrounded by family and friends.

Jim was blessed with six children, Vicki, Lauri, Scott, Steven, Jill, and Julie. He had 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents and eleven siblings; also his beloved wife, Patty; son, Scott; and three sons-in-law, Jeff Bruhn, Neil Ebeling, and Tom Hayes.

Jim is survived by his five children, Vicki Ebeling, Lauri Hayes, Steven and Carol Schleif, Jill and Curt Van Lith, and Julie Bruhn.

Services for our dad will be Saturday, September 30, at St, John’s Lutheran in Buffalo. Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m. until 1:50 pm. The funeral will start at 2:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon at the church. Internment will take place at a later date.

          Memorial donations preferred; Dad’s favorites were St. Jude’s, St. John’s Lutheran Church (youth group Alaska Mission Trip), and Noah’s Ark Preschool.

Bright attire requested by Jim for the celebration of his arrival to his heavenly home.
